from the Dallas Morning News editorial section, Tuesday, December 26, 2006:

"At his press conference, President Bush said we were losing the war in Iraq, but that we should keep shopping.  Worst president ever."

Hahahahaahha, disparaging the President and a Simpsons reference?  Ah, Dallas, how I've missed you...

my life in pictures

looking back over my latest entries, it doesn't seem like i'm capable of writing more than 10 complete sentences, so i'm using pictures to compensate.  at least these will be pictures that i took or that i'm in, rather than ones i found randomly on google image.

sushi came to visit.  i'll spare you most of those pictures, which were taken in a country dive bar on the upper west side, but this is a particularly nice one he took of...pouring beer on the floor?  good work, sushi.

i went to the mermaid parade on coney island.  for the rice peeps, imagine a mermaid-themed NOD with people of all ages.  like this guy.

and i really really liked this.

school ended, which involved activities like allowing song and our AP's niece to tie lots of bows in my hair:

and playing pool with everyone, after which song took these excellent pictures:

i went to montreal on the last day of school, got to see some excellent jazz as part of the

and bought a very expensive/awesome umbrella which i haven't managed to lose yet (it's been about a week and a half...)

ryan came to visit.

that lovely picture was taken at belle and sebastian (squeee!) who played a free show on the 4th at battery park.  here is a picture where you can barely, maybe, see them.

i head back to texas on the 11th to begin hard-core training for the family vacation, which will include biking though some euphimistically named "rolling hills".  i'll be down to houston at some point, i'm sure, although i doubt if jeff will ever see/speak to me again after the last time.  i'm debating whether to take the umbrella home....i love it, but it's huge and it'll be a huge pain to deal with on the trip.  thoughts?

in the same vein as the infinite cat project, ryan just sent me the link to putting stuff on my cat.  because stuff + cats = awesome, apparently.

it is a strange place

but i kind of love it.

in other random, disturbing image news, i was google imaging "awkward" today, in search of some

unfortunately, the first link is to the all-ages kirk/spock archive, a collection of G-PG13 fan fiction, poetry, and art about the romance between Kirk and Spock from Star Trek."
it ranges from the bizarre

to the more bizarre.

i did some serious work yesterday.  we were inventorying books, which is actually what my assistant principal told the principal we were doing.  he came in to check on us and to offer to make the school aides help us move stuff around.

children are our future and their education is a very serious business.

It's been a long week.

Last weekend, I went to see The History Boys with James and Deborah on Saturday and went out drinking with Nick on Sunday.

On Wednesday, one of my students punched a hole in the wall of my classroom.

On Thursday night, lightening hit my house, knocked out my cable (again), and blew a bunch of bricks off the house (from the chimney, I think).

Now, it's Saturday again, and I'm ready for a little peace and quiet and internet stolen off of a neighbor's unsecured wireless router.
